Corten Steel

Finishes:
A weathering steel, also known as CORE-TEN or Lyten Steel, is a group of steel alloys which were developed, originally, as the main material used for shipping containers, which has now grown in popularity for architectural purposes. Corten forms a stable rusty appearance if exposed to the elements for lengthy periods of time. Initially, Corten steel panels resemble mild steel. Once the laser cutting process is complete and the panels are exposed to the weather, the rusted appearance begins to appear. This rusted patina will evolve and change over time. This may take weeks, months , even years. As this patina is real rust, it may leach and stain surfaces below and this should be taken into consideration during the design process.
